Ten minutes north of Marathon, and only 15 minutes drive from Islamorada, Grassy Key is a sleepy little village of waterfront home on large estate properties, very private and quiet, far from the seasonal madness. Entering the property from its Morton Street entry, one is greeted by tropical flowering plants and majestic palm trees; the long meandering driveway winds past a tennis court to the grand house.

New Kitchen
This immaculate home features a new large kitchen with custom cabinets and granite countertops, a large TV room with Big screen TV and a large, airy great room which opens to a spacious screened patio beside the heated pool. The Main level has 2 wings; one wing has a very private master suite with king size bed and the other wing has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. One with a King size bed and bath, 1 with 2 double beds and 1 with 2 twin beds and a shared bath. The second master suite with king size bed, sits atop a natural wood staircase and offers the most stunning views of all. This suite has its own private screened porch.

MoonBay – Key Largo

Marathon lies approximately 50 miles north of Key West and 50 miles south of Key Largo. Rumor has it that Marathon was named during the building of Henry Flagler’s railroad. While building the tracks, a worker commented that the job was a marathon and the rest is history. There are 42 bridges that connect the Florida Keys with the longest of them being the “seven-mile bridge” located at the southern end of Marathon, Spanning from Key Vaca to Sunshine Key it is the area’s most noted attraction and is one of the longest segmental bridges in the world.

Marathon’s popularity is due in part to its fascinating history and environmental attractions. Settlements on the Islands of Marathon can be traced back to the early 1800s. Throughout the region environmental attractions provide visitors opportunities to swim with dolphins, explore a rain forest, stroll beautiful white sand beaches and enjoy an array of watersports activities. Fishing is available offshore, on the reef and flats, along the bridges and in nearby Everglades National Park.

There are enough snorkel and scuba dive excursions to keep the divers busy, while kayakers can paddle through the backcountry waters. Visitors can charter a sailboat, play golf and tennis and dine at one of many fine restaurants. Marathon also has a commercial airport with connecting flights from Miami International Airport. Private aircraft are also available.

The southernmost city in the United States. Ernest Hemingway lived here and fished the waters of the Florida straights for the giant blue marlin. Festivals and parties accentuate the tourist season. Fishing tournaments and an art festival, world premiere plays, international power boat and yacht races and a lighted boat parade go on 365 days a year. Perhaps the most notable of these is the ten day event in October known as Fantasy Fest. An estimated fifty thousand people from around the globe descend upon the city to partake in a celebration not unlike Mardi Gras.

Or just stroll carelessly around Key West and visit any of the countless pubs, sidewalk cafes and first-class restaurants. See the historic seaport district, known to the locals as the Key West Bight. The Bight is a well known place to chart a day on the water. Key y Largo, the Dive Capital of the World. Home to the world’s largest artificial reef, the 510 foot USS Spiegel Grove. Also home to the nation’s first underwater state park, The John Pennekamp Coral Reef Underwater Park, Formed in the 1960’s, Pennekamp Park represents over 100 square miles of mangrove shoreline, grass flats, and of course the famous coral reef.

Key Largo also gained notoriety when the 1947 movie classic “Key Largo,” featuring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, hit the silver screen. A local bar, the Caribbean Club, provided the locale for a number of the movie’s scenes. Bogie’s presence still can be seen today in Key Largo, the vessel of another American movie epic – “The African Queen” – is on view at the Holiday Inn Key Largo Marina.

Key Largo offers divers everything they need by the way of dive packages, scuba equipment and lessons, and great accommodations.
